This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Receiving telephone calls for Law enforcement support and services. Writing and reviewing police reports.
Located: Forest Glen, Silver Springs Maryland.
Duties
Use office automation software equipment to generate and maintain electronic files.
Use emergency management methods and rescue techniques.
Writing and reviewing law enforcement reports.
Perform general office clerical duties.
Obtain verbal and written statements.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment.
- This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the USAMPS Civilian Police Academy.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate an Emergency Vehicle when patrolling and must successfully complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course.
- Incumbent must be able to operate a personal computer in fulfilling the reporting requirements of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Enforcing a wide range of law enforcement activities such as traffic codes and procedures; and 2) assisting with writing/reviewing law enforcement reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
