Serve as a Captain of the Law Enforcement Patrol Branch. This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour. You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.

Duties

Supports the installation through law enforcement investigations and crime prevention missions. Revises patrol routes and shift strengths to meet short and long-range commitments. Supervises installation traffic control studies to ensure maximum effective utilization of existing roadways and parking facilities. Implements requirements essential to effective operation of the U.S. Magistrate System. Supervises patrol lieutenants and police officers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year supervisory probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
  • You must be able to do 19 push-ups in 2 minutes AND run 1.5 miles in 17 minutes and 30 seconds.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment.
  • This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the USAMPS Civilian Police Academy.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate an Emergency Vehicle when patrolling and must successfully complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course.
