Serve as a Captain of the Law Enforcement Patrol Branch.
Duties
Supports the installation through law enforcement investigations and crime prevention missions.
Revises patrol routes and shift strengths to meet short and long-range commitments.
Supervises installation traffic control studies to ensure maximum effective utilization of existing roadways and parking facilities.
Implements requirements essential to effective operation of the U.S. Magistrate System.
Supervises patrol lieutenants and police officers.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
- Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.

- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
- You must be able to do 19 push-ups in 2 minutes AND run 1.5 miles in 17 minutes and 30 seconds.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment.
- This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Supervising law enforcement employees;(2) Coordinating developmental and training needs of employees; and (3) Utilizing Microsoft Office software such as, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Excel.
Because there is no position in the normal line of progression in the organization that is one grade lower than the position being filled, one year of specialized experience at the second lower grade level (GS-09) is credible for in-service applicants. External applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service), must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-10).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
