The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is an economic development agency of the federal government and 13 state governments focusing on 420 counties across the Appalachian Region. Duties
Typical work assignments include, but are not limited to:
Provide technical environmental historic preservation (EHP) advice related to Appalachian Region Commission activities.
Coordinate with the Registered State Basic Agency (RSBA) staff, Historic Preservation Advisors, and the Environmental Historic Preservation (EHP) to fulfill Environmental Historic Preservationrequirements.
Provide technical assistance to Registered State Basic Agency staff and Appalachian Region Commission staff during project formulation, grant processing, and close-out.
Participate in inter-agency consultation under various environmental laws, such as the National Historic Preservation Act.
Interface with the Registered State Basic Agency, grantees, and the Made in America Office in all matters related to the Build America, Buy America Act.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level, if you have:
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level (or equivalent) performing the following duties:
Managing financial assistance actions; AND
Analyzing grants applications including making assessments of a prospective awardee's eligibility and financial viability; AND
Negotiating, administering, and closing out the resultant awards upon completion.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
