This position is located in the HHS, CMS, Office of Healthcare Experience and Interoperability (OHEI), National Standards Group (NSG), in the Division of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Enforcement and Compliance (DHEC).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-15, you will lead a staff who develop and maintain the complaint management and compliance review programs and assessment of Civil Money Penalties.
Duties
Directs and plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Directs the planning, development, and implementation of new or innovative program policy areas related to the enforcement of standards under the HIPAA administrative simplification process.
Oversees the analysis and interpretation of compliance data and the preparation of briefing materials and reports on the integrity and quality of program operations.
Conducts independent analysis of HIPAA enforcement and compliance program information designed to resolve problems that impact on the effective program management and functions.
Provides authoritative guidance and advice on HIPAA enforcement and compliance programs to other internal and external organizations and audiences as directed.

In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1) Planning or directing the work activities of staff or teams;
2) Providing technical direction to a team on the planning, implementation, or operation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) administrative simplification enforcement and compliance programs; and
3) Evaluating HIPAA enforcement and compliance procedures to recommend improvements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
