This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM), Medicare Enrollment and Appeals Group (MEAG), Division of Enrollment and Eligibility Policy (DEEP).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-15, you will serves as the Division Director and oversee national policies for Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D beneficiary eligibility, enrollment and entitlement, and other related policies.
Duties
Provides expert leadership to the division in developing and implementing national policies for Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D beneficiary eligibility policies.
Advises CMS, Social Security Administration (SSA) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) officials regarding Medicare eligibility, enrollment and entitlement.
Reviews current and proposed Federal laws, regulations, policies, and other relevant guidance regarding Medicare enrollment, eligibility, and entitlement to assess the impact on policies and operations related to the Medicare program.
Represents the Division and Group and other CMS components, Medicare health organizations and drug sponsors, health care industry, employers and unions, beneficiaries, and the general public regarding technical and sensitive matters.
Works with and plans the work of staff and assigns work based on priorities.

In order to qualify for the GS-15 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
Developing, implementing, or reviewing health insurance industry regulations, policies or guidance which impact the administration of health plans;
Providing technical assistance or leadership to subordinates in the interpretation or development of regulations, policies, or guidance; AND
Planning or overseeing the operation and management of staff activities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
