This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-15, you will oversee policy development for Medicare Advantage, PACE, Cost Plan Contracts, and employee group plans at CMS and improve capacity for integration of data driven analysis to support policy development.
Duties
Direct efforts to develop new policies in program and industry objectives, the health care delivery system, beneficiary health care needs, and new plan types to support an appropriate range of choices for beneficiaries.
Conduct data analysis and environmental scans on emerging topics and trends in the health plan industry.
Oversee the interpretation of established policies and provides technical assistance stakesholders
Represent the division in consultations with the local, state, and U.S. government officials, and the public regarding interpretation and impact of health plan and other policy matters.
Oversee a team of specialists by setting task assignments, reviewing performance, providing feedback, and carrying out the mission of CMS in then delivery of Medicare Advantage health plans.

In order to qualify for the GS-15 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Developing, implementing, and reviewing health insurance industry regulations, policies or guidance to show theimpact of the administration of health plans; (2) Providing technical assistance and leadership to subordinates in the interpretation and development or regulations, policies, or guidance; AND (3) Planning and overseeing the operation and management of staff activities for the development of Medicare Advantage, PACE, Cost Plan Contracts and employee group plans products and policies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
