About the Position: This Position is Located at the Army Medical Center Madigan, Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The incumbent is responsible for conducting final acceptance of all MAMC Physical Security equipment and electronic monitoring systems.
Duties
The incumbent will coordinate and provide Physical Security support to Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC).
Conduct on-site physical security inspections, surveys and risk analysis to evaluate and improve the security posture of Mission Essential Vulnerable Areas (MEVA) and High Risk Targets (HRT).
Prepare the content and presentation of security matters to the MAMC Provost Marshal and other Senior Leaders.
Validate and update requirements for budget submission for physical security equipment, training, and contracts.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the MAMC Electronic Security System (electronic locked doors, Intrusion Detection System, Duress buttons and CCTV cameras.
Provide training to MAMC Security Guards and support personnel concerning day-to-day operations and special missions.
Perform quality assurance evaluations for security contracts.
Survey contractor facilities to determine security requirements and/or the eligibility to work.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the incumbent to work on an intermittent or unscheduled, on-call basis.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: providing support with research, review, and/or interpretation of physical and operations security policies and guidance for program oversight; conducting comprehensive physical security inspection, surveys, inspections of Security systems and evaluations at facilities (such as Military installation); providing security awareness training to personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Personnel, Cyber Security, Security Management, Intelligence Security or Emergency Management. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Physical Demands: Work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, during periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling and similar activities. This position requires the employee to have normal eye sight, hearing and dexterity as employee will at times be subjected to potentially hazardous conditions. The work may regularly involve lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects of 50 pounds or less when delivering or installing security devices. The work may require some common characteristics and abilities of physical agility and dexterity to work in confined spaces and to move or lift moderately heavy objects.
Work Environment, The work is performed in settings in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and dangers. Dangers include but are not limited to high levels of noise, varying light conditions, high temperatures in confined spaces, adverse weather conditions, large traffic volumes of varying types of civilian, commercial and military vehicles operating within close proximity of employee, high electrical voltage, low levels of radiation, blood borne pathogens, and potential biological toxins. The employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as safety vests, safety glasses, safety boots and gloves.
