Duties
Serve as a safety and occupational health specialist responsible for evaluating areas such as safety, health projects and programs over the installation's 4000 square miles in support of the White Sands Missile Range Commander.
Support the Installation Safety Director in areas such as the development and enforcement of the White Sands Missile Range Safety Program.
Evaluate the effectiveness of Safety and Occupational Health programs for the installation.
Develop plans such as those related to health and safety awareness for operations on White Sands Missile Range.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
- This is a CP-12 position. Training in accordance with the CP12 ACTEDS Plan at the identified grade level is required for personnel filling these positions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Manage safety and occupational health programs, in areas such as: Range Safety, System Safety, and Chemical Safety; 2) Assist in safety inspections/surveys to ensure program compliance; AND 3) Provide training on Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower level/grade position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).
