This position is in the Health Medical Administration Department (HMAS)/Veterans Transportation Service, at either the Portland, Oregon VA Medical Center or the Vancouver, Washington VA Medical Center.

Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Plan, assign, and review work done by subordinates;
Provide on the job training to new employees and instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques;
Provide direct oversight of the transportation assistants performing all office functions;
Maintain manual and electronic accounting records, perform regular reconciliations, and adjust account balances;
Maintain and control filing systems in accordance with regulations;
Assist with the arrangement for all modes of transportation;
Prepare appropriate documentation and/or scheduling for traveler;
Review requests for reimbursement of travel costs for assuring compliance with regulations and procedures;
Prepare detailed reports of funds deposited and withdrawn monthly as needed;
Serve as a customer service representative for all matters involving Beneficiary Travel;
Communicate and interact in a manner appropriate to the patient needs;
Apply transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard transportation support assignments; and
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Qualifications
TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-07 GRADE LEVEL, APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of a Lead Transportation Assistant. Specialized experience includes leading dispatch and transportation services; assisting with fund control and maintaining accounting records; distributing and balancing workload among employees; training and instructing employees; applying transportation regulations and practices to perform a wide variety of transportation support assignments; and performing administrative personnel management functions.
NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
