You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the of NMCLANT DET MAYPORT FL. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. WG-6907-07: $27.57 - $32.19 WG-6907-09: $31.62 - $36.89

Duties

You will perform material handling functions of receiving, issuing, storing, segregating, selecting, handling, prepping, inventorying, and shipping ordinance. You will use automated information systems and maintains an accurate inventory of assets. You will provide cross training in functional areas to lower level employees. You will ensure cargo is secured per military standard loading drawings and procedures. You will receive and offload ordnance materials from trucks, rail cars, vessels, MILVAN's and other conveyances.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as: GS-09: Operating the controls of a forklift truck capable of lifting loads weighing 10,000 pounds or more, for starting, stopping, backing, and driving through narrow aisles in buildings, up and down ramps and in and out of trucks, vessels, and other conveyances. Experience in lifting, lowering and tilting forks. Applying frequently used agency regulations or practices covering standard, routine blocking and bracing procedures. Comprehending governing regulations, manuals, instructions, reports, documentation, data cards, Military Standard tags and loading procedures, and other reference materials used in the performance of this position. Applying the functional characteristics and compatibility of conventional ordnance including ammunition, explosives, missiles, torpedoes, bombs, projectiles, rocket motors, associated components, and various other hazardous items received, stowed, and issued. GS-07: Operating, with dexterity and safety, the controls of a forklift truck capable of lifting loads weighing 10,000 pounds or more. Developing proficiency in forklift operations such as starting, stopping, backing, and driving through narrow aisles in buildings, up and down ramps and in and out of trucks, vessels, and other conveyances. Reading and comprehending frequently used agency regulations or practices covering standard, routine blocking and bracing procedures. Following verbal and written instructions applicable to material handling. Operating industrial tools such as table saws, circular saws, drills and nail guns.
