This position is located in the Environmental Management Services at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital (578), a complexity Level la VT-IA Facility. The primary purpose of this position is providing administrative support to the Service Manager and performs clerical and assistant duties for the section Managers. Also serves as a primary timekeeper for assigned time and leave units within the Service.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinates and provides administrative support;
Schedules and manages appointments;
Screens calls and visitors to the office, referring to other staff members as appropriate;
Composes and prepares correspondence, forms, letters, memos, and reports;
Schedules conferences, coordinates meetings and prepares meeting minutes;
Maintains office supplies and equipment;
Serves as the timekeeper for the service;
Receives and reviews all incoming correspondence; and
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation and terminology used in office settings. Knowledge of standard office equipment, such as computers, copiers, fax machines, and office automation systems. Knowledge of various office automation software such as graphics or tables to update databases and spreadsheets. Comprehensive knowledge of the Nutrition and Food Service rules, procedures, and operations. Ability to establish and maintain program files and records. Ability to perform purchase card holder duties.

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and 4 YRS education beyond high school.
