This position is located at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, organizationally aligned to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative, collaborative, & programmatic level support divided between ASOC VISN 12 Poly-trauma Amputation Network Site (PANS) and PMRS. The incumbent functions as a program and administrative assistant working along with the PANS Amputation Rehabilitation Coordinator (ARC).
Duties
Performs certain aspects of program planning and development as well as managing resources and establishing and maintaining communications with services such as Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Acquisition and Material Management, Quality Management, Patient Advocate, Facilities Management Service and providing program administrative and technical assistance in the day-to-day operations, program planning for PANS/PMRS and the completion of special projects as assigned to ensure the efficiency and productivity of the Amputation Program using established methods, practices, and criteria.
Major Duties:
Incumbent collects, compiles and tracks data and statistical information in support of the PANS/PMRS program operations and assists in the planning, review and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies.
Develops protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets and retrieves computerized data. Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Provides data/reports regarding the administrative, clinical, and technical aspects of the ASOC to higher level management or other supervisors needing data.
Coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources, reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Manages patient flow through the PANS, with the goal of attaining performance measures. Manages local Hospital clinic stop/encounter/report paperwork, as well as national program policies, procedures, and operation manuals to meet JCAHO, CARF, and other applicable accreditation standards.
Establishes and maintains contact information for the Regional Amputation Centers, PANS, and ACT and POC within the VISN. Coordinates video teleconference between sites, coordinate conference calls, educational presentations and in services from vendors according to hospital policy.
Assists with proposals and projects that are implemented and participates in special events connected with the ASOC.
Maintains a calendar to document patient appointments, PANS meetings, conference calls, and PANS personnel leave.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/02/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include: Providing administrative support in a medical setting. Relating to internal and external customers appropriately and courteously. Documenting and maintaining detailed records and files. Processing and tracking documents, forms and reports. Functioning as a timekeeper, multitasking with multiple timecards.

Physical Requirements: The work is partially sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, etc.
