The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is one of the Veterans Health Administration's
(VHA) most rapidly growing service areas, as a result of infrastructure modernization,
programming innovation, and expansion of population-served by the Program of
Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) under MISSION Act. CSP
expansion puts the VHA out front of the healthcare industry as a healthcare system
pioneer-caring for the caregiver.
Duties
The primary function of this position is to provide operational support to the Caregiver Support Program staff and perform the full range of clerical, business, and administrative duties that ensure an efficient and effective response to PCAFC and PGCSS.
Handles numerous requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates, etc. for matters requiring compliance and similar information on behalf of the CSP.
Ensures accurate, timely and consistent entry of information into appropriate database(s).
The PSA assists the team to ensure the secure transmission and receipt of
documents needed to process applications for the PCAFC and comply with VHA
privacy rules using the Caregiver Records Management Application (CARMA)
Acts as timekeeper for CSP, maintaining time and overtime leave records as needed and
directed by position supervisor.
Collects and categorizes all personnel workload and fiscal reports, as required by
the program and as directed by position supervisor.
Participates in education trainings and operations guidance as it pertains to the PSA
role within CSP and across the facility.
Assists with online or in-store program purchases and tracks fund usage
Ability to adapt to changing situations, to modify plans and demonstrate flexibility in
changing circumstances, while displaying a high degree of interpersonal skill.
Ability to plan effectively, set priorities, coordinate activities, have a high degree of
skill in oral and written communications with a variety of people from different
backgrounds and different levels of understanding, and present a positive image of
the VA. This may include clerical, technical, administrative, and professional
(medical and non-medical) people at all levels in the medical center and community
agencies.
Demonstrates proficient use of software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook,
Vista, and CPRS.
Ability to support the creation of Clinics and provide scheduling support.
Knowledge of Community Care referral practices and ability to provide administrative task supports when needed

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/26/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GSA-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of the Caregiver Support Program procedures to resolve or refer situations on both the administrative and Veteran customer level. Ability to apply basic analytical methods to interpret data and recognize errors and deviations. Knowledge of medical terminology and appropriate uses, (e. g., medicine, surgical, geriatrics, hospital terms, medical abstracts, nursing, social work, pharmacology, aging and home health), spelling, grammar, and ability to determine and follow required formats for VA memos and reports. Plans effectively, sets priorities, coordinates activities, has a high degree of skill in oral and written communications with a variety of people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding, and present a positive image of the VA. Knowledge of general office procedures including filing systems, VA Correspondence formats, and clerical practices and procedures applicable to mail and record maintenance work. Knowledge and skills to operate a variety of standard office and VA computer programs and databases. The position requires demonstrated experience and mastery of office automation systems and word processing the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Power Point, Access, Word, SharePoint etc.)..
