About the Position: Works under general supervision of the Chief, Infantry Quality Assurance (QA) Element (IQAE), who conducts regular discussions with incumbent regarding status of training operations, programs, resource matters, or workload problems.
Duties
Provide input to the development and evaluation of training materials.
Advocate, develop, or revise policy, doctrine, planning, and program changes based on data analysis.
Make recommendations for revision or improvement to training aids, student workbooks, technical manuals, or other materials.
Conduct research and analysis to determine training improvement strategies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
- This position requires that the employee routinely travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time. Flight in Army aircraft is a requirement of this position.
- This position will may require the employee to work both scheduled and unscheduled evenings, weekends, and/or overtime, as needed to meet mission requirements.
- Work involves physical activity: prolonged standing while observing instruction/ training, extended walk over varying terrain in all climate, and observe/evaluate training.
- Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time. Work requires extensive reading, writing and cognitive skills.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which demonstrates practical knowledge of formally assessing/evaluating Combat Arms training and education; preparing formal written reports; providing written and verbal feedback to Combat Arms leaders; teaching or coaching Soldiers, NCOs, and leaders in formal and informal settings. (NOT REQUIRED: Preferred Ranger and/or Jumpmaster skillset). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Teaching, Education Studies, and Instructional Design. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
