This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as a Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Winn Army Community Hospital.

Duties
Perform the full range of receptionist, recordkeeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties with the ambulatory setting.
Enter, Manipulate, and retrieve information and data from automated systems.
Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically.
Respond to emergency calls, and notifies emergency medical personnel.
Maintain all patients' records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation ensuring each entry contains proper patient and health care provider identification.
Perform clerical duties inherent to the in processing (reception), care, and out processing (transition) of outpatients, families/caregivers and guests.

- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) performing clerical or reception duties; (2) receiving patients in person or telephonically; AND (3) entering patient data into an automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
