About the Position:
Serves as a Supervisory Instructor for Fire Support Enlisted Instruction Section, provides overall supervision for the 13F Fire Support Specialist Course Advanced Individual Training Course.
Duties
Perform duties as training instructor with responsibility for revising Programs of Instructions (POI) and development of 13F training.
Incumbent ensures that instructional material for assigned courses is up to date.
Serve as a Senior instructor on the systems support (LLDR and PFED) and POI execution and for all associated equipment.
Teach theory and practical application of the Call For Fire Trainer (CFFT) and Virtual Battlefield Systems (VBS), LLDR and PFED and other applicable systems.
Train and certify newly assigned instructors to the Fire Support Enlisted Instruction Section.
Revise course materials such as instructor and student guides, practical exercises, programmed texts, training aids, lesson plans, and field and technical manuals in accordance with approved programs of instruction.
Participate in training materials review prepared by team members to ensure objectives are met through proper organization of course contents, technical accuracy, and to offer objective comments to the author designed to strengthen the presentation.
Evaluate individual instructors’ and subordinate supervisors’ performance.
Provide background information and instruction to other instructors on the use, design, and maintenance of training documents such as POIs, lesson plans, and other training support materials.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities.
Requirements
- Employee must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a pre-entry on duty physical examination and yearly thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to travel overnight away from home station (TDY) up to 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilize appropriate instructional techniques such as lecture, demonstration, and hands-on exercises to teach theory and practical application of the operation and employment of Call For Fire Trainer (CFFT), Precision Fires Electronic Designator (PFED), Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder (LLDR), and Virtual Battlefield Systems (VBS); Analyze technical materials and training requirements; and Train new instructors on the CFFT, PFED, LLDR and VBS systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages
