You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST within NAVAL SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will respond to various DoD and DON security problems involving the implementation of security policies and will apply risk management principles in accordance with established policies and guidance. You will serve as a technical security expert and are expected to exercise a great deal of judgement and initiative to determine the appropriate approach to solve complex and potentially controversial problems. You will exercise delegated authority to oversee the overall security planning, direction, and timely execution of a large or multiple medium program segments. You will lead and participate in cross functional working groups and Integrated Product Teams. You will coordinate with other security agencies for the development, implementation, and training of security requirements and programmatic execution. You will identify, manage and apply performance measures to organization wide business systems, deficiencies, and processes within the Program Office or acquisition community.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing leadership and direction in the areas of information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, special program security, operations security and security administration programs. 2) Communicating orally and in writing unique program requirements to effectively advise and guide audiences of all levels. 3) Analyzing and resolving complex security problems requiring innovative solutions demonstrating technical expertise. 4) Providing oversight of various enhanced and collateral security programs. 5) Demonstrating resourcefulness in researching, developing and implementing new and improved security methods, policies and procedures to meet program objectives.
