About the Position: Serve as an Executive Support Specialist for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1, located in Pentagon, Arlington, VA.
Duties
Performing a variety of administrative management and technical support duties for senior executives.
Serving as the element of continuity to ensure that standard procedures support the mission objectives.
Informing action officers of delays, adjustments in suspense and priorities, and other major changes as they occur.
Briefing the leadership prior to meetings/conferences to ensure necessary reference material is provided.
Searching for information that leadership may need for inclusion in reports and studies.
Providing management solutions and executive level recommendations.
Creating correspondence that communicates the organization's intent on key issues.
Developing briefings and papers that articulate vision and direction of the organization.
Requirements

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support on travel coordination and/or expenses using an automated system such as Defense Travel System (DTS); reviewing correspondence ensuring proper grammar, punctuation and appropriation coordination is complete; and maintaining calendars for senior leaders by scheduling engagements and setting up conferences/meetings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing all administrative support functions and associated managerial tasks within the organization; assisting in the forecasting of new requirements and projecting improvements in daily organizational operations; serving as the Travel Administrator to manage and provide authoritative guidance concerning the organizational travel system, such as the Defense Travel System; and developing correspondence that articulates key issues, vision and direction to leadership. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
