You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the ELEC SYS WATERFRONT/IC SYS BRANCH, ELEC/ELEC ENGINEERING & PLANNING DIVSION of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will establish long range plans and set priorities bases on short-term goals and schedules. You will provide both technical and administrative supervision over technicians, but only administrative supervision over the engineers. You will instruct, advise, and direct the personnel assigned. You will assign work to personnel based upon personal ability and special knowledge.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience with submarine electronic systems, operating principles, component functions, and testing requirements. *Experience resolving emergent problems that may delay project completion. *Experience planning and executing assignments and projects to meet overall objectives. *Experience ensuring the timeliness and cost effectiveness of the work performed. *Experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, to transfer knowledge through mentoring of employees.
