You will serve as an Electronics Technician in Code 293, Combat Systems Division, Engineering & Planning Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will serve as a System Technician for major electronics/electrical engineering projects associated with the functional design, performance evaluation and reliability of various types of submarine weapons systems and their components.
You will coordinate with other engineers and technicians to ensure that all system areas are covered.
You will evaluate project objectives.
You will prepare correspondence, technical reports, fact sheets, status reports to complete project assignments.
You will perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

To qualify for the GS-11
For Outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with major electronics/electrical engineering projects associated with the functional design, performance of various types of submarine weapon systems and components;
Experience applying techniques and practices of electrical/electronic engineering to complete related engineering projects;
Experience planning, installing and testing equipment and systems involved during a ship's overhaul period;
Experience preparing and reviewing correspondence, such as Job Summaries, Task Group Instruments (TGI's), Deficiency Logs(DL's) Deficiency Reports (DR's), technical reports, estimates, status reports, instructions and procedures.

Education
Applicants may substitute the following education for experience:
GS-11: There is no substitution of education for experience at this grade level.
GS-09:
Successful completion of two full years of graduate education directly related to the work of the position
or
Successful completion of a master's degree directly related to the work of the position
or
A combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
NOTE: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
