About the Position: This position is located with Public Health -West Public Health Activity- Carson, Office of the Chief, Fort Carson, CO.

Duties

Executes, directs, and/or coordinates a variety of military personnel programs. Manages various command-wide programs such as Military Awards; Military Evaluations; Military Personnel Actions; Rating Schemes; Leaves and Passes; Awards Board; Office and Enlisted Strength Management; etc. Coordinates installation support offices such as Finance, ACAP/TAP, Retirement services, and Casualty Operations. Determines strengths and weaknesses, procedural and regulatory deficiencies in program areas and provides recommendations to correct or improve current practices. Prepares reports for higher headquarters from information contained in personnel files, and coordinates with HQ GPRVC on applicable actions. Provides guidance and assistance to military personnel and operating officials on the full spectrum of military personnel matters to include training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement up to 25% of the time.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience GS-9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes demonstrated experience applying Military Human Resource (HR), rules, procedures, and operations in order to process a variety of military HR actions, review military personnel records and documents; perform a variety of automated operations within the lntegrated Personnel and Pay Systems-Army (IPPS-A) and interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System ((PERMS); and Microsoft Office functions such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Political Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.
