About the Position: Serves as the Chief of the Military Personnel Division with overall responsibility for the Military Personnel Management Program.

Duties

Advise the Directorate of Human Resources, Deputy to the Garrison Commander (DGC), supported Commands, and Headquarters staff on military personnel policies, and procedures. Implement Army G-1 policies relating to the procurement, assignment, retention/reenlistment and utilization of military personnel, and the review and consolidation of military personnel actions for submission to the US Army Human Resources Command. Serves as the recognized senior advisor on Human Resources (Military) program issues. Responsible for implementation of mobilization plans, systems, and procedures at the installation. Manage the Retirement Services Program and determines ID Card/DEERS eligibility for active duty, reserve components, retired, and their family members. The coordination with the Director of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security ensures that installation mobilization plans are consistent with Army guidelines and verifies deployability of military assets.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1. Independently managing human resources operations in accordance with regulations and command policies, objectives and guidelines for a military organization; 2. Reviewing, analyzing and interpreting regulations, directives, and reports pertinent to military personnel; 3. Preparing, recommending and communicating military personnel policies designed to provide the command with optimum manning and personnel support; 4. Assigning, directing, and evaluating work of subordinate sections and organizational structure related to the execution of human resource activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
