This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA OPC/DISA FIELD OFFICE - SOCOM - (SO).
Duties
Reviews correspondence for compliance with agency correspondence directives
Serves as the recognized Senior Technical Expert for the telecommunications data networks, as key advisor, trainer, and liaison officer for GIG/DISN systems (NIPRNet, SIPRNet, CENTRIX, ITSDN, ATM, and STEP).
Ensures consistency in the formulation and transition of communications architectures, policies, and procedures.
Designs, documents and produces implementation plans; specifies equipment and technical details; participates in the preparation of Statements of Work (SOW) and bid evaluations.
Oversees the development of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and C4ISR future concepts and for providing rapid prototyping, integration of tactical command, control, communications, and computers.
Reviews support contracts for DISN data systems and networks supporting the JIG to assure customer service support is adequate and meets operational requirements.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This position is designated as Emergency Essential.
- This is a Key Position. This position cannot be vacated during an emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively
- This position requires a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Drug Testing Position.
- This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual.
- The incumbent will be required to take part in JSOC sponsored readiness exercises within CONUS or OCONUS.
- Employee is subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
- The incumbent is subject to deployment or Temporary Duty (TDY) assignment to an overseas or CONUS location situation to provide direct support to the Joint Special Operations Command.
- Physical required.
- The incumbent will complete annual or semi-annual Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) training and any other required training.
- The incumbent will complete weapons qualification on an annual basis and will carry military weapons for personal defense during contingencies, as required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience with Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) Enterprise networks and the Special Operations Information Environment (SIE); managing special operations and telecommunications services; coordinating DoD plans and policies dealing with sensitive C4ISR programs and capabilities vital to deployed Special Operation Forces (SOF) missions, project management; and providing technical guidance and systems support.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-14 grade level.
