About the Position: This position is for the Department of Health Agency, Army Health Clinic, Family Medicine Service located at Tacoma, Washington.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
Apply and remove bandages, binders, simple dressings, and hot and cold packs.
Administer immunizations as ordered and screened by providers.
Instruct patients and families on various subjects, such as the proper procedure or following receipt of immunization in accordance with established protocols.
Make entries on MHS Genesis and other required databases.
Monitor the waiting areas for possible changes of patient condition.
Requirements
- This position requires immunization screening to determine inoculation for Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap), Hepatitis B series, Chickenpox titer and skin test screening for Tuberculosis (TB).
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 44 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includestaking and recording vital signs; using electronic health record system to enter or retrieve patient information or medical records; and check-in or schedule appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly to the position, such as Nursing.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
