About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center Office of Preventive Medicine with the Traumatic Brain Injury Center located in Tacoma, Washington. This is Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Care and treatment of various illnesses, diseases, and pain management. Serve as a consultant to leadership on issues surrounding acupuncture care. Make acupuncture diagnosis by questioning, observing, and examining patients. Counsel patients on nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, stress management, and other matters related to acupuncture care. Document information related to all patient care in accordance with guidelines.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience consulting with providers on acupuncture services to treat conditions such as acute and chronic pain, physical injury, arthritis, headaches, tennis elbow, rotator cuff strains, tendonitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Health Care, Health Care Administration or other related field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. License Requirement: Acupuncturist License
