About the Position:
This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).
The incumbent of this position supports administrative management and communications efforts to fulfill Military Community Support Programs (MCSP) mission and tasks.
Duties
Serve as an administrative management expert within the Military Community Support Programs (MCSP) Directorate which encompasses oversight of the Military OneSource and Military and Family Life Counseling programs.
Responsible for directorate tasks and staff level guidance to monitor the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of reports, policy directives, correspondence, internal and external taskers, travel, and training.
Provide advice and recommendations on all matters related to workflow management, correspondence management, records management, publications management, and policy management.
Supervise the assignment of suspense items and maintains a current list of action items and their status.
Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships in executing daily operations across the directorate.
Prepare briefings, correspondence, and other pertinent information for Military Community Support Programs director review and action.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

Specialized Experience for GS 13: One year of specialized experience which includes ensuring records are maintained according to regulatory requirements, monitoring open issues and deliverables around established timetables, providing recommendations on workflow management, correspondence management, records management and/or publications management, and preparing issuances, position papers, and/or training materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Specialized Experience for GS 14: One year of specialized experience which includes ensuring records are maintained according to regulatory requirements, providing recommendations on workflow management, correspondence management, records management and/or publications management, monitoring the accuracy, completeness, and/or timeliness of reports, policy directives, and/or correspondence, providing guidance on administrative policies, programs and/or procedures, and preparing issuances, position papers, and/or training materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Time in Grade Requirement for GS 13: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirement for GS 14: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
A writing sample may be required by management within the interview process.
