You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Electrical) in the Power and Lighting Branch (276), Engineering Division, Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide technical guidance for preparation of lists on drawings required to execute complex projects.
You will establish all operational parameters such as voltage, amperage, speed. wattage/horsepower, etc required to demonstrate proper performance and reliability.
You will act as a troubleshooter in the identification and resolution of problems encountered during installations, grooming, or testing phases of waterfront production.
You will provide all electrical drawings, special racks and equipment and modifications to install a specific system in a specified space.
Requirements
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience reviewing and evaluating shop drawings, samples and material certifications submitted by contractors or Navy technical services personnel.
- Experience preparing engineering drawings and technical documents for complex nuclear and non-nuclear ship class systems and ship alterations.
- Experience with nuclear aircraft carrier systems.
- Experience preparing procedures for conducting tests on various electrical equipment and systems.
