You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT (CODE 291, 2&3 SELF DEFENSE BRANCH HEAD) of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

You will investigate, analyze, and recommend corrective action for problems pertaining to the design, installation, and maintenance of shipboard machinery and systems. You will provide material services and technical support to insure adequate fleet readiness. You will plan work and assign tasks to subordinates within their areas of specialization. You will coordinate background investigations and research into complex machinery equipment and system problems. You will provide engineering guidance and technical guidance to junior technical personnel. You will review reports prepared by technical personnel to ensure compliance with administrative and procedural requirements. You will identify developmental training needs of employees.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing mechanical and electrical system repair, maintenance, and installation processes by planning work assignments to be completed and providing technical engineering guidance to meet overhaul timelines.
