You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the WATERFRONT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVSURFPAC READSUPGRU.

Duties

You will serve as the Class Maintenance Team combat systems technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for shipboard functional problems, ship repair, ship maintenance, and ship modernization. You will research shipboard technical issues and determine repair/ maintenance availability strategies, to include acting as a liaison between senior command, and maintenance teams to provide resolution to complex technical issues. You will provide engineering/ technical guidance to various teams and departments, in resolution of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat and Intelligence systems repair/ overhaul or test/ grooming problems. You will advise Maintenance Teams and collaborate with the Port Engineer in planning and scheduling work for continuous Maintenance/ Chief of Naval Operations availabilities. You will conduct investigations for resolution of technical problems and determine necessity to expand the scope of the investigation to resole problems with overall system design, supply support, documentation, etc. You will present information to NAVSEA System commands, ship commanding officers, Naval Activities etc., relating events affecting changes of work, material specs, reports of investigation, recommendations, requests for funding.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing technical engineering projects and practices by researching, testing, and evaluating technical issues to resolve unusual or unprecedented shipboard electronic systems or subsystem problems.
