The primary purpose of this position is to serve as security specialist and works with the Special Security Officer (SSO) in the maintenance and configuration of SCI areas and perform physical security functions in the squadron. Salary ranges include local market supplements.

Duties

1. Administers the personnel security program by initiating and reviewing requests for personnel security investigations. Ensures requests for security clearances are properly screened and verified, that all necessary forms and documents have been completed before processing clearance requests. 2. Administers physical security management responsibilities for the squadron. Ensures physical security standards are established and maintained governing the construction, modification and protection of facilities across the spectrum of security levels within the United States and foreign countries. 3. Administers the information security management responsibilities for the squadron. Implements and administers the information security program for collateral and SCI information ensuring standards are developed, implemented, and enforced with DoD, USSF, and mission partners regulatory and policy guidance for classifying and protecting classified information. 4. Assists managers in implementing security education programs. Informs 10 SOPS personnel of security training requirements, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness.

  • Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.

Qualifications

This is a GG-11 position in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES). The GG-11 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-11 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the 11 grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions ,Administrative and Management Positions. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of the principles, policy, procedures and methodology of security administration and skill in applying practical knowledge of applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies. Skills have been gained through experience or education to carry out difficult assignments independently. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of information, personnel, and physical security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. 2. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. 3. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the squadron. 4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. 5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. Conditions of Employment Continued: -Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. -Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
