Duties
You will identify recommend, develop, and implement protective measures and processes that protect assets, evolve with changing threat situations, and are responsive to emergent and emergency requirements.
You will maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards, adhering to legal regulations.
You will provide the Division Head and chain-of-command with accurate, timely, and relevant information and well-analyzed recommendations to minimize unnecessary risk.
You will assess threats, hazards to command activity, and recommend controls to reduce or eliminate unnecessary risks through the proper posturing of command resources.
You will provide guidance on policy, scheduling and inspections, review survey findings, develop and maintain databases as needed in addition to requirements.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for STRL jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower band level. This requirement is called time-in-band. Time-in-band requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09-12) or pay band (NM-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Supervisory Security Specialist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Utilizing a wide range of Special Access Program (SAP) security related concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices; (2) Performing work related to program security interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs to support and promote information sharing and strategies; (3) Interpreting a variety of security program laws, directives, regulations, and guidance to assist subordinate organizations in establishing and operating internal security programs; (4) Performing work related to Information Security (INFOSEC), Personnel Security (PERSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC); and (5) Analyzing data related to facility planning and assessments, makes sound recommendations to management and coordinates internally and externally for implementation of management direction.
