About the Position: Serves as Police Officer (Desk Sergeant), Directorate of Emergency Services, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Duties
Prepare accurate and concise police reports ensuring the reports contain all pertinent information and follow established guidelines for format, policy, and procedural requirements.
Has full responsibility for the dispatch of support personnel (number of patrols, emergency medical personnel, firefighting personnel, explosive ordinance personnel) that, based on a specific incident will be required.
Desk Sergeant is the sole point of contact for complaints, inquiries, information, and making personal notification in accordance with established emergency notification procedures.
Responsible for receiving, interpreting, evaluating, and immediately deciding what action is appropriate and implement that course of action.
Solely responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Military Issue and Commercial Intrusion Detections Systems located on the Desk.
Responsible for continuously monitoring all confined prisoners via a closed-circuit Television system in the cell area.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination. This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- In accordance with (IAW) Army Regulation (AR) 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply.
- The incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and must know First Aid. The incumbent may act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
- The incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT) as outlined in Army Regulation 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
- Position requires employee to perform routine and emergency daily duties while wearing a uniform and/or protective clothing.
- The position requires a clean shaven face to the extent there is no possible interference of any hair growth (beard/mustache) with the sealing of the protective face mask.
- Must be able to successfully graduate from the Department of the Army Civilian Police Academy within 1 year from date of hire.
- Incumbent must be able to act in the capacity of a first responder to critical incidents
