The Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of General Counsel (OGC) is looking for an experienced Paralegal Specialist to join the team. The OGC’s mission is to provide representation to the Architect and other AOC officials on all legal aspects of the AOC’s compliance with applicable laws, including the Congressional Accountability Act. The Paralegal Specialist will perform legal research and writing and other duties in support of the attorneys engaged in employment and business law matters.

Qualifications
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-09 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal service.
Specialized experiences for this position includes having 3 the 4 following: (experience mut be reflected in resume):
1.) Independently drafting legal documents and performing legal research.
2.) Providing extensive litigation support and case management services, handling matters from inception to discovery through appeal.
3.) Providing litigation and administrative support services.
4.) Multitasking in a fast-paced legal office, while also establishing and maintaining successful working relationships with clients (both internal and external).
Education
You may qualify for the GS-9 based on education if you have completed:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
LL.B. or J.D. degree
Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
