This position is located with the BIA, Office of Trust Services, Division of Wildland Fire Management, located at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), in Boise, Idaho. Information about the surrounding area can be found at https://www.boisechamber.org/ The duty location is in Boise, ID or may be negotiable at the time of selection, but it MUST be within the local commuting area of any Bureau of Indian Affairs Office.

Duties

Provide specialized guidance and advice in the development of standards. Collect, analyze, manage, and maintain wildland fire and fuels management program data. Utilize business and wildland fire management expertise to support the fuels management program at the national level. Organize, analyze, evaluate, and improve the efficiency and management of fire management program data (preparedness, fuels, and wildfire prevention). Participate in Division of Wildland Fire Management activities during emergency all-risk situations.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: In order to be rated as minimally qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the minimum qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. For GS-12: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience MUST demonstrate experience in at least 3 of the following areas and MUST be at the national, regional, and/or bureau wide level. Serve as the technical authority in spatial data management, cartography, and/or GIS Create and apply spatial wildfire risk models. Provide technical expertise and training in geospatial activities related to wildland fire management. Design, develop, and manage national geospatial databases. Advanced knowledge and experience in utlizing ESRI Arc GIS Online (AGOL) features and applications for mapping, data collection and analysis to include Field Maps, Survey 123 online and Survey 123 Connect. . Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604.
