The employee will serve as a Laundry Machine Operator, at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks, in Fayetteville, AR. The employee will process hospital linens, employee uniforms and patient wearing apparel on a timely basis to meet general production schedules.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Processes hospital linen, employee uniforms and patient apparel in a timely manner while meeting general production schedules.
Ensures that all soiled laundry and equipment are kept physically separate from clean laundry side of the building.
Sorts items received into washing classifications based on fabric content and color and degree of soil or stains.
Identifies wash classifications and records weights in production records.
Uses correct water temperature, water and timing cycles and automatic injection of wash compounds at various states in cycle.
Keeps work area neat and orderly at all times.
Uses special stain removing chemicals and procedures to remove stains from laundry items.
Ensures the washer-extractors are loaded according to their rated capacity and equally balanced.
Processes special items such as pillows, wool blankets and specially marked items separately from regular wash items.
Selects correct pre-determined wash formula to process the load in order to meet quality control standards.
Assists with the general housekeeping in the clean side of the building.
Uses the appropriate lifting mechanics when lifting heavy items.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Qualifications
Related experience that demonstrates this ability includes ability to operate commercial dryers, washers, extractors and cart washers; ability to load commercial washers, assuring balance of loads, setting controls, sorting linens; knowledge of recording and documenting work completed. (This experience must be documented on your resume.)
PHYSICAL EFFORT:The employee needs physical ability for accomplishment of heavy physical tasks for extended periods. Physical demand include: pushing heavy carts; lifting loads of over 50 pounds; pulling wet wash from washer/extractor and continual bending, stooping, walking and standing on concrete floors.
WORK CONDITIONS:Working conditions include machinery noise; hot and humid atmosphere; offensive odors while sorting and washing soiled linen, which is contaminated with infectious organisms and having wet clothing and shoes while pulling laundry loads. The employee is subjected to the possibility of minor cuts, scrapes, bruises and needle wounds.
