About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at Fort Cavazos, Texas.
Duties
Serves as the Alternate Installation Cyber Security Network Manager for the Defense team supporting the Cyber Security Defense Branch Chief, Installation Information System Security Manager, Cyber Division Chief and Network Enterprise Center.
Supports the Installation Information Assurance Network Manger (IANM)/CSDB Chief under the CS Division Chief in assessing effectiveness of the CS program for the Fort Cavazos Installation.
Responsible for ensuring the Army Enterprise Infrastructure is operational and secure through managing network security device administration, conducting risk assessments, handling incident management, and monitoring and analyzing logs.
Work involves ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of networks, systems and data through the planning, analysis, development, and maintenance of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a three year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in DoDI 1400.25 V3005, Cyber Excepted Service, Employment and Placement.
- Must pass an initial and periodic urinalysis screening for illegal drug use.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security clearance.
- Required to complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoDM 8140.03, Cyberspace workforce qualification and management program, dated 15 Feb 2023 or updated version.
- Required to complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position (both IAM II and IAT II) as outlined in DoD Pub. 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program within 6 months.
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements and may be placed in an On Call status.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by:
Reviewing and analyzing cyber security defense, security directives, industry directives, and other Army and DoD related programs that affect the defense, handling of secure, sensitive, or privacy related information;
Analyzing preparatory measures, response actions, and restoration activities are adequate for network activities to maintain an acceptable level of network security without interruption; and
Assessing the effectiveness of the Cyber Command Readiness Inspection (CCRI)/Risk Management Framework (RMF) programs.
