Duties

Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist and Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) assigned to the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) J61 Cybersecurity Operations, Vulnerability Management Division, J-614C. Supports the senior ISSE with providing enterprise-level information system security engineering and cybersecurity risk assessment support to stakeholders across the organization. Delivers enterprise-level information systems security engineering and cybersecurity risk assessment support and provides guidance on security architecture requirements, system hardening, risk mitigation, and cybersecurity practices. Identifies the need for changes based on new security technologies or threats. Supports the enterprise-level technical evaluation of hardware, software, components, conducts risk analyses, and provides guidance on the security architecture requirements for systems. Develops and maintains relationships with organizational staff and internal and external stakeholders to ensure open communication, coordination and deployment of cybersecurity related processes and activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Plans, implements, and manages information systems security problems to effectively recognize, report, track, and resolve vulnerability issues. Evaluates the feasibility to adapt security system engineering and cybersecurity methods to enhance support to stakeholders. Implements information systems security requirements, integrates across disciplines, defines the scope and level of detail, and measures to ensure awareness and compliance. Develops long-range plans for IT systems security and reviews new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks resolving integration issues with existing infrastructure. Conducts assessments of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data by coordinating, planning, analyzing, developing, implementing, and enhancing cybersecurity programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
