The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to HQ ARPC/DPTSCC, Service Verification Branch.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Service Verification Branch, ensuring that Separations and Service Verification complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents HQ ARPC/DPTSSC, Service Verification Section, with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Provides expert advice and guidance on Separations and Service Verification.
Provides management advisory services and technical expertise on Service Verification.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-7, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of military HR policies, procedures, and regulations, ability to analyze complex interdependent qualification factors in the military personnel data system, the assignment system, and follow-on systems. Provide program advice and carrying out activities in varying levels of work. Plan and schedules work to be accomplishes, sets and adjusts short-term priorities.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge and understanding of military personnel policies, procedures, and regulations sufficient to serve as a technical authority on military personnel retraining, retirements, assignments, and separations and counsel on all aspects of the programs as well as management principles, overarching Air Force Instruction publishing processes. Knowledge of Air Force Instructions and authoritative sources related to military human resource business processes.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in a highly effective and professional manner, to interact with diversified groups, individuals, and organizations.
Knowledge of human resources regulations, Air Force Instructions, manuals, pamphlets, DoD Guidance, letters of instruction and any other instrument that sets forth eligibility criteria, procedural guidance, policy guidance on a variety of military personnel programs.
Knowledge and understanding of the use, manipulation, application and functions of the Military Personnel Data System (MILPDS), Right Now Technologies (RNT) and vPC-GR as well as Personnel Services Delivery Transformation efforts.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
