This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Privacy Officer (PRIV).. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, coordinate, and further develop the operational process for privacy compliance documentation at the Department under the direction of the Privacy Compliance Officer. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Duties

As a Government Information Specialist (Compliance), GS-0306-12, your typical work assignments may include: Support PRIV's efforts to ensure that sound privacy and information sharing safeguards and policies are in place across the department to ensure that privacy compliance issues are addressed. Evaluate various reports, correspondence, and other agency materials to identify Privacy impact and risks. Support PRIVs efforts to ensure that sound privacy safeguards and policies are in place across the Department and make certain that privacy compliance issues are addressed throughout the Department in order to limit unauthorized access to personally identifiable information. Communicate official PRIV policies on privacy and compliance issues; and assists in developing and conducting privacy training for employees and contractors. Qualifications

Specialized Experience: To qualify for a GS-12 position, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 level that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience is defined as: interpreting and implementing laws and regulations regarding privacy (i.e., Privacy Act, E-Government Act, Homeland Security Act, and other Federal security and privacy laws and statues); developing and implementing privacy impact assessments and related documents and overseeing and coordinating the editorial process related to document management, deadlines, content management, workflow, and approval processes related to privacy compliance documentation and related activities. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
