Duties

You will represent USINDOPACOM in staff actions that feed and inform the Secretary of Defense’s decisions that are then ordered to action by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. You will execute the orders and intent of the National Defense Strategy and Seize the Initiative. You will participate in real time and future management of DOD assets world-wide through preparation of requirements and recommendations. You will provide technical advice and administrative guidance regarding policies, procedures, and problem resolution for administrative activities.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing knowledge of leadership, management, and personnel administrative concepts to effectively manage and implement security programs. Examples of specialized experience may include the following; 1) Organizing and leading others in comprehensive studies or projects and preparing accurate, operationally sound recommendations; pertaining to the management of combat forces. 2) Ability to negotiate effectively with management to develop and implement command position recommendations on proposals involving substantial resources and/or extensive changes to established concepts and procedures. 3) Developing strategies regarding planning and allocating forces for military operations. 4) Provide a depth of knowledge and continuity in overseeing the administrative and managerial operations of work accomplished by subordinates.
