About the Position: This position serves as Director, Aviation Concepts, Experimentation and Analysis Directorate DE-0301-04 in Army Futures Command (AFC), Futures and Concept Center, Aviation CDID Concepts Division located at Ft Novosel Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training.

Duties

Serves as the Director, Aviation CDID Concepts Experimentation and Analysis Directorate, ensures the effective management and accomplishments of the Capabilities Development and Integration Director (CDID) mission. Ensures the optimal use of the personnel, equipment, monetary, and facility assets available to accomplish the CDID’s mission. Responsible for the execution of administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission assigned. Integrates Combat Developments, Doctrine, Organization, Training Developments, Materiel, Leadership, and Personnel and facilities (DOTMLPF) for assigned Army Functional Areas and specific systems development: fielded, new, and future. Develops and assesses through Operations Research Systems Analysis and Integrates concepts based on mission area analysis, and synchronizes concept plans. Evaluates and integrates Science and Technology Objectives (STO). Maintains liaison and coordinates with technical personnel and other research and development, and professional organizations in the area of future programs with emphasis on the processes as they relate to the Army and Army Aviation. Broad knowledge of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and the Defense Acquisition and Management System process.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Top Secret security clearance required for position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position may be subject to a three year probationary period
  • Appointment to this position may be subject to a two year supervisory probationary period.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing capability development functions in support of developing Doctrine Developments, and Training Support requirements across Doctrine, Training, Leadership, Organization, Materiel, and Personnel and facilities(DTLOMPF) capabilities and associated products from concepts, requirements, technology development, operation and sustainment of the U.S. Army Aviation capabilities; 2) Providing executive level advisory, technical, and strategic guidance on the doctrine, tactics, organization and operation of Aviation weapons, platforms target acquisition, command and control, and communication systems; 3) Making decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting, or developing important U.S. Army Aviation workforce policies and programs; 4) Presenting and influencing top level decision-making and supporting and defending decisions to Army stakeholders, and Defense partners; and 5) Developing and executing strategic plans that present unique or adaptive solutions targeted toward the Aviation concepts and Experiments workforce community.
