About the Position: This position is located in the Army Futures & Concepts Center - Aviation Capability Development Integration Directorate (CDID). Serves as Supervisory Aviation Specialist (CDID Chief of Staff).
Duties
Serves as Supervisory Aviation Specialist and Chief of Staff in the Headquarters Section, Aviation Capabilities Development, and Integration Directorate (CDID), Futures and Concepts Center (FCC), Army Futures Command (AFC).
Advises CDID Director on the status of new development aircraft systems, ordnance, armament systems and related support equipment being evaluated for use in Army Aviation.
On behalf of the Director, CDID, coordinates, synchronizes, and provides recommended courses of action to field improved Army Aviation capabilities.
Responsible for supervising approximately six subordinate staff personnel conducting personnel management, civilian hiring, budgeting, supply, operations and training, information technologies, internal controls and associated administrative support.
Performs the full range of supervisory personnel functions to include counseling, professional development and evaluating subordinates’ performance.
Supervises or leads CDID participation in conference, symposiums, exercises and/or experimentation aimed at solving Army Aviation operational capability gaps or insufficiencies.
Prepares or reviews decision briefings, information papers and requirement documents for decision briefings by Army senior leaders.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing technical and practical knowledge of the characteristics, properties, and the uses of aircraft systems and equipment; applying policies and regulations that impact Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leader Development and Education, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF); conducting analysis to determine combat capability requirements related to aviation.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
