This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Exhibits and Visitor Services Division. The incumbent is a visitor services staff member who often acts in an independent role and is responsible for providing on-site visitors with information and answers to questions using an in-depth knowledge of Museum resources and history of the National Archives.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-06. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a Visitor Services Assistant, you will:

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-06, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Greeting visitors or customers in a professional setting, such as; an office, information desk, admissions desk, theater, or lobby; AND Using Point of Sale (POS) systems to process transactions for visitors or customers (examples; cash register, kiosk, card reader). For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes performing in a technical, clerical, or support role for a business or organization. Examples of such experience could include: Utilizing Point of Sale (POS) systems to process transactions for visitors or customers; OR Greeting clients and responding to inquiries in person, via email, or on the telephone, or utilizing computer systems and tools to prepare and update documents and reports. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school. OR COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
