The primary purpose of this position is securing major philanthropic gifts from individuals and institutions to meet the priority needs of the Gallery. The incumbent reports to the Chief Development Officer.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualifications Standards Handbook requirements for the NF-1001-15.  Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the federal NF-14 level, eliciting major philanthropic gifts. An equivalent combination of education and experience is fully qualifying and meets the minimum qualification requirements. Ability to apply fundraising skill, strategies, and practices to cultivating prospective corporate and foundation donors. Thorough knowledge of giving arrangements and the ability to quickly learn and navigate the procedures, policies, and regulations of a large organization. Ability to supervise others, delegate, establish priorities effectively, and set deadlines. Experience working with leadership across an organization in developing new programs and/or initiatives.  "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration under merit promotion procedures.
