Duties
NIST's Standards Coordination Office (SCO) promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing the
development, adoption, and use of national and international standards essential for national and economic security. SCO's Strategic
Standards Information Services (SSIS) Program provides analysis of trends and dissemination of news and alerts tailored to the strategic
needs of stakeholder networks. The employee supports the SSIS Program by collaborating with federal agencies and external
stakeholders to design, implement, and improve databases that support agency needs. The employee provides expert analysis of
standards-related information and generates detailed reports that inform federal participation in standardization. The employee
facilitates a dynamic process for capturing emerging standards information ensures the timely publication of SSIS newsletters, supports
the SSIS database, and tracks work items from standards development organizations.
Major duties include:
Use coding techniques (manual or software-assisted) to categorize and identify patterns, themes, and insights within qualitative data.
Translate findings into clear insights and present them to stakeholders in accessible formats (reports, presentations, newsletters).
Stay updated on the latest qualitative analysis techniques, tools, and technologies to continuously improve data analysis processes.
Utilizes data analysis tools to gather and evaluate information, comparing different options to assess their potential for supporting future mission objectives.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
or
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
This position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 (ZP-3 at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as: Manipulate qualitative and quantitative data and information, perform data modeling, and present and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Applying computer language skills to develop programs to scrape the web for data extraction.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
