The program duration is one year. Upon successful completion of the program and at the agency's discretion, the appointee may be converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service.
Duties
This position will provide data science skills and engineering to NIST research digital asset management, analysis and operation to advance productivity in scientific and metrology digital dissemination. Data analysis will be applied to both domain specific and multidisciplinary research workspace. Technical work will utilize digital repository and technical collaboration tools in coordination with project team management.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
or
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
In addition to the above basic requirement, this position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 (ZP-I at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as: experience in application of data science for analytics, utilization of database technology and machine learning methods. Project demonstration and execution of use of this technology.

1 year of graduate-level education
OR
superior academic achievement.

A combination of education and specialized experience as described above.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
