Duties
As a/an Deputy Housing-FHA Comptroller, you will:
Ensure that (a) accounting and internal control polices exist and are applied on all operations; (b) accounting control over all Housing-FHA activities is maintained (c) all external and internal financial reports are prepared properly, accurately and timely; (d) debt collection and cash management systems are in compliance with all requirements and (e) financial standards are identified and the Office, or Offices, responsible for systems development, maintenance and operation for all Housing programs receive guidance on needed improvements to satisfy all Federal and management requirements.
Maintain the FHA general ledger, the chart of accounts, and certain subsidiary ledgers.
Prepare quarterly financial statements as well as other financial reports and analyses for the Congress, the OMB, other federal agencies and the general public, and internal management reports to various levels of Housing management.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-15 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Leading a team of employees in a financial organization; AND
- Analyzing financial statements and the data supporting the statements; AND
- Resolving audit findings.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
