Duties
This position is located in the Financial Systems and Reporting Division (FSD), Office of Financial Management (OFM), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (OCAO), in the United States Capitol Police (USCP). Serves as a senior accounting advisor responsible for providing professional advice and guidance to senior management related to the USCPs on financial accounting, reporting, and payment system operations. Oversees and directs subordinate staff in the performance of work that involves designing, implementing, and testing new systems or developing and testing modifications to existing systems or related software programs; developing financial reports; interfacing other reporting tools and payment systems; and plans, directs, and coordinates all aspects of the Division's operations. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the financial accounting operations; reporting activities of the USCP including the compilation of the USCP annual financial statements and associated coordination with external auditors; processing and auditing vendor payment documents, including employee travel reimbursements; and coordinating problem resolution with vendors.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.For the CP-13 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-12/GS-14 level that is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes: 1) applying changing laws, regulations, and policies to the entire range of the accounting systems operation and production efforts; 2) overseeing and conducting ongoing assessments of the financial accounting system operations to ensure internal controls; and 3) modifying existing interfaces to meet business needs.All eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.(Information on Qualification & Education is located at the following link: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/)
