We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

Duties

This position is located in the Accounts Payable Division (APD), Office of Financial Management (OFM), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (OCAO), in the United States Capitol Police (USCP). The incumbent conducts and oversees audits related to the area of responsibility, ensures audit follow-ups are completed, provides resolutions for accounts payable, travel discrepancies, or other fiscal or reporting matters. Functions as a senior advisor providing professional advice and guidance to senior management and subordinate personnel on difficult and controversial accounting and financial issues; and legal and regulatory requirements for accounting, reporting, cash management, and specialized areas of budget formulation and execution. Oversees and directs the analysis and evaluation of accounts payable and travel program issues and identifies acceptable resolutions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.For the CP-13 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-12/GS-14 level that is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes: 1) interpreting, analyzing, and developing accounting and financial management policies to ensure the agency-wide accounting systems meet USCP requirements; 2) reviewing and provide timely responses to internal and external audit queries; and 3) identifying and implementing changes and improvements to internal controls within the APD.All eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.(Information on Qualification & Education is located at the following link: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/)
